DNA Grow Tower for Microgreens and Plants

I designed this DNA-shaped growing tower for my students. It is a multipurpose, modular growing system that can be used to grow microgreens or as a decorative planter that brings more greenery into a living space.

I particularly like the meaning behind the design. DNA symbolises life, and in this tower, the DNA-shaped structure is used to support new plant life as it grows. It brings together technology, science, life and art in one functional design.

I have included images showing how to use the tower as both a microgreen grower and a planter. Please refer to these images carefully before assembling the parts and beginning to grow.

Important Notes

Because the planters are relatively shallow and have limited vertical growing space, they are most suitable for plants with shallow root systems that remain fairly small. Succulents are particularly well suited to the design, but the planters can also be used for starting seedlings before they are transferred into larger pots.

When growing edible plants, please consider the properties of your chosen filament, printer setup and growing medium. Not all 3D-printed materials or printing processes are suitable for direct food contact.
